Manitoba Ice Fishing Huts
After a friend invited me to visit his cabin in Manitoba in 2018, I did some research and discovered an incredible new world to me - the world of ice fishing huts on Lake Winnipeg. I was inspired by photographers such as Richard Johnson (his Ice Hut series) and other photographers who have been drawn to ice fishing huts over the years, to create my own series of photographs of these wonderfully compelling structures.
The first series won the top non-professional prize (Best New Talent of the Year) at the Prix de la Photographie, Paris, as well as a Silver medal in the Minimalist Awards.
A second series, which I shot in December 2019, won the Architecture category in the 2020 Sony World Photography Awards.
